This was a great year for Trinidad carnival and soca music. So many artists put out incredible music this season. Music sets the tone, vibe and atmosphere of all the events. As the genre continues to grow the music continues to evolve and new artists are emerging with fantastic music.
Well as the season has just finished, many artists I will go through the tracks that I believe deserve to be in the top 10 best songs for Trinidad Carnival 2025.
The Best Soca Songs for Trinidad Carnival 2025
Yung Bredda – The Greatest Bend Over
Yung Bredda has really shown his versatility with this song. The song has switched gears from his usual production and gives us a calmer song with sweet melodies. The ‘Greatest Bend Over’, urges you to take it, where you don’t have to do too much to dance in the party and just enjoy the session. I think we should give Yung Bredda more credit and showing the layers to his talent as an artist.
Bunji Garlin – Carry It
Carry it, written by Bunji and produced by Stemz Productions celebrates the nostalgia of Trinidad Carnival. The song speaks to the spirit of the season and comes from the perspective of someone who has experienced carnivals highs and lows. Bunji tells a story with the song a paints vivid images of some of Trinidad’s neighborhoods such as Arima, Morvant and San Juan. In these communities they moved as one and carnival brought everyone together through culture.
Bunji talks about the downtown fetes where 30,000 people from all walks of life danced together. There were no VIP sections, social media people acting stush just people enjoying themselves united. I personally feel like this song is an anthem for Trinidad Carnival and carnivals and events in communities around the world. I feel like we are getting away from the heart of carnival sometimes which is about unity. At some events people act so stush and everyone sometimes is on their phone taking videos or pictures instead of just enjoying the moment.
Bunji is one of the best to do it for sure and the story telling in this song remind me of Differentology and carnival Tabanca. He is one of the best in terms of painting a vivid picture of fetes and culture through music.
Machel Montano – Pardy
The king is back or should I say he never left, Pardy has earned Machel his 11th road march title. To be honest from the very first time I heard the song I knew it was going to be hit. The song celebrates Caribbean carnival culture and emphasizes the importance taking time to relax and party as it is not only essential for life but a huge part of our culture.
Lady Lava – Ring Finger
This is one of my favorite songs on this list. The very first time I heard this song I was browsing YouTube, the video had just dropped, and was in my recommended videos. From the time I starting listening to the song I was hooked, the beat is infectious and her humming in the beginning is so catchy. The song about empowerment and not objectification speaks to women and celebrates independence. It doesn’t bash men or marriage or shames single women but urges women to use some common sense when in relationships. It is also a song of self reflection.
The song more has a zess vibe incorporating soca music with dancehall. I honestly couldn’t believe I had never heard of Lady Lava before this track, I give her 10/10 for this song. She released more music for carnival such as heavy rollers and flowers with Ding Dong but Ring Finger is my favorite by far.
Mical Teja – ENERGY
I really started paying attention to Mical Teja last year when he dropped DNA, which is such a good song. This year he stayed consistent with the quality and came with Energy. The song describes the vibe and essence of carnival. I truly believe he will have a long career in music and be considered one of the greats in the next 10-15 years once he keeps this quality of music.
Voice – TOO OWN WAY
I believe Voice is in almost everyone’s to ten. This track ‘Too Own Way’, is about embracing your individuality and living by your own terms. The song is produced by De Red Boyz, credit is also due to ‘Shaft’ Bishop Scott Galt and Michael Hulsmeier.
Kes – Cocoa Tea
It is crazy how consistent Kes has been through the years, I have never really heard a bad song from Kes. This season Kes has brought this banger of a song Cocoa Tea which is a favorite among fans. The song is beautiful and describes the relationship with cocoa tea and is a double entendre which can also be the relationship with a woman.
Leh We Play – Patrice Roberts
Patrice does it again with this track, which is about letting loose and enjoying yourself. Let talk about the visuals in the music video and how incredible she looks. Patrice always knows how to bring it and look flawless while doing it. The song was produced by Carel Taylor, Lunatix Productions and written by Jason ‘Shaft’ Bishop.
Nadia Batson – Fatt
The song on the Tilden Hall Riddim is another song written by Jason ‘Shaft’ Bishop and produced by De Red Boyz. It gives me that old school vibe with its cadence and use of brass.
Full Blown – Good Spirits
This song on the Big Links Riddim, is a feel good song about good vibes and enjoying yourself. Only wanting good people in your circle, having money to spend and overall partying.
Well I hope you enjoyed my list for 2025 and remember every one’s taste is subjective so if you believe there are some tracks that should or shouldn’t be on this list feel free to comment below.
